One of the best times to go snorkeling is early morning, the
lake is calm and quiet and the rising sun makes for great underwater photo'ing. So it was out the door by 7am and geared up and in the water by 7:20am, the water a balmy 65 degrees. I snorkel my way out to a sand bar when I encounter a curl of hundreds possibly thousands of minnows. I know any sudden movement will spook them so I pretend I’m just a log – just an ordinary log that has drifted away from the shore with a camera in front of it. I try not breath hard from my snorkel for concern it may agitate the minnows.
The minnows become used to me being there and they encircle me and for a few brief moments I become a minnow – a 6 foot 3 inch 200 and some pound minnow – I was part of the minnow nation.
